Ladies' 1s 0 - 1 Penarth Ladies 1s
We left sunny England to arrive in a wet and rainy Wales with very little parking. After trekking to what felt like Narnia, we finally found the changing room.
In the first quarter we started off with some really strong work and Lexi won an early corner. We were unlucky not to score but kept working hard with some strong defending at the back. Some great work from Croker running back to intercept the ball at the top of the D following a quick break from Penarth.
The second quarter started with some great saves from Lydia, but we were unlucky to concede a short corner. Some great defending kept us at 0-0. We continued with strong passing and excellent teamwork with some lovely drives from Lexi upfront.
The third quarter started with a really strong attack but we gave away a short corner which Penarth managed to convert but lucky for us it was disallowed. Jemima managed a fantastic save on the line from the following corner.
With a strong and motivational chat before going into the fourth quarter we started off on the front foot with Lexi winning a short corner which we weren’t able to convert. In the final 10 minutes we were under a lot of pressure and Penarth won a short corner where they slipped the ball into the goal making the score 1-0 with 5 minutes remaining. We pushed hard until the final second of the game and managed one last attack on goal where the Penarth goalie made a very good save stopping a brilliant shot from Reaney.
We ended the game with a 1-0 loss before everyone packed their bags and enjoyed the 3+ hour journey home due to the traffic.
