Ladies' 5s beat Oxford with a convincing 4 - 2 win
29 January 2022, 16:00, Banbury Road North (Near)
Ladies' 5s 4 - 2 Oxford Ladies 4s
With the same targets as last week the ladies 5’s went into this game hungry for goals and with heads full of strategies to keep possession and get outcomes in the D - our two targets.
The first half started off strong with Hawks looking dangerous in the attacking half and within the first 5 minutes Sherene hit the target, 1-0. Oxford Ladies 4s kept fighting, but Hawks defence were strong and got the ball away from the goal using transfers, while the midfield made some great 1-2s up the pitch.
Outcomes in the D were definitely being won, with lots of short corners (unfortunately missed), and then Karen got a second goal putting Hawks 2-0 up at half time.
After a half time talk Hawks entered the second half with composure and managed to continue the great play seen in the first half. Karen and Kelly had a few excellent plays in the D, with Karen scoring a further 2 goals.
Unfortunately, in the final 5 minutes Oxford Ladies picked up the pace and managed to sneak in a lucky 2 goals. Final score 4-2.
Player of the match went to Karen for her hattrick.
Many thanks to Evelyn Hargraves for the excellent photos.
