4s V 5s 3: Hockey Hard with a Vengeance
22 January 2022, 10:30, Banbury Road North (Near)
Men's 4s 5 - 0 Oxford Hawks Men's 5s
So whilst I didn’t play in the previous clash of the 4’s and 5’s, I did hear it turn into a bit of a “feisty” affair. This game however was a pleasure to play in and one that would do the club proud in terms of honesty, commitment and sportsmanship from both sides.
It will come as no surprise that 2 of the more experienced members of the 4’s were part of the difference. In goal, Phil was brilliant and up front Adam added that little extra class in front of goal to set up others and notch himself. I love playing alongside those two and hate playing against them.
For the 5’s, there were periods where we were on top, but just couldn’t find the net. Jamie doing a magnificent job turning defence into attack one side and George was solid with some great distribution out the back on the other. Dave playing his first game for the club had a very good game on the left proving another worthy acquisition, nice bloke/fine player.
Normally 5-0 would sound like a good stuffing and maybe not much for the 5’s to take as positives, however definitely not the case.
Thanks to Dave and Adrian for umpiring on what was probably an enjoyable game to do. Congratulation to the 4’s…. this time
Thanks to Evelyn Hargraves for the great photos.
