The Ladies' 3s battle the elements... and Wallingford 1s!

Ladies' 3s 0 - 3 Wallingford Ladies 1s
After a strong win last week, the Ladies' 3s were determined to secure another victory. The start of the game saw some fantastic stick to stick passing in the defence and mid lines and transfers round the back. A couple of short corners for Hawks unfortunately didn’t prevail in a goal but were well-drilled and slick. With end to end play throughout the first half, a solid press from Hawks put pressure on the Wallingford defence line, but unfortunately Wallingford broke through and scored their first goal, making it 1-0 at halftime.
As the 3s entered the second half, the sun decided to make an appearance, but only very briefly. Hawks put up a fight with some fantastic break-through play from Esme and strong drives down the wing and baseline from Phoebe. However Wallingford again took their chances and two more were scored. At this point the vibe started to become a bit frantic as the umpires had to have a word and a green was presented to Wallingford.
Although they had plenty of attempts, Hawks didn’t quite manage to find the back of the net, but they kept their heads up throughout and battled on until the final whistle. Brilliant performances from both teams!
Final result: 3-0 to Wallingford
MOM: Esme - for her strength, skills and generally a fantastic game!
