Frustrating Day for 2s in Local Derby

16 October 2021, 11:30, Banbury Road North (Near)

Ladies' 2s 0 - 1 Oxford Ladies 1s

The ladies 2s experienced a frustrating day at home when Oxford travelled across the city to play at Hawks.

We started slowly and the oppo applied high early pressure, unforced errors and wayward passes from the home team seemed to unsettle us from the confident hockey of passed weeks.

Oxford took an early advantage from a loose ball intercepted from a Hawks sixteen and finished well as the defence was outnumbered by the attacking overload.

Hawks then seemed to settle and had a few chances and short corners but were not able to find the back of the net.

Discipline was also not on our side as we found ourselves down to 10 on more than one occassion. However, we continued to fight the uphill battle and saw more attacking play in the second half which again unfortunately came with no reward. A goal line save from the oppo in the last few minutes saw Oxford coming away with all three points and Hawks experiencing their first loss of the season.

A tough day at the office but a good opportunity to take stock, bounce back and come out fighting even harder after the half term break. Still in second and we know what we are capable of. Bring on Sonning.
