With ten minutes to go before the scheduled start time there was concern the opposition wasn't actually going to show but following delays on the M25 and M40 the Woking players started to arrive shortly thereafter delaying start by 15 minutes and reducing the game to 30 min halves.
Woking had key absences from bygone seasons with players now representing the newly formed Woking 40's side meaning the O50's team were mostly O60 with even a couple of O70's!
Falcons once again struggled for numbers and were lucky to have Richard Venables and Mark Shirley double up after their majestic win for the Magnificent 7's! It was also great to see the return of Club Captain Chris Hutton and Dick Heinrich from injury and the bolstered home side took the lead early on with goals from skipper Buzz and shortly thereafter by the also returning from injury (sustained running the London Marathon) - Andy Sumser.
Opportunities were squandered including short corners and half-time came with no change to the score despite the visitors only making a single visit into the Falcons half!
Second half saw Mark Shirley score his first goal of the season playing in the unusual forward position he found himself in following injury to the skipper. Time stood still as did the Falcons defence, probably still in disbelief of the goal from Shirley, but a rare visit into the Falcons 25 was rewarded with a pretty much unchallenged goal!
Falcons stirred from this momentary slumber and before the end of the game further goals were added by Buzz and then Mark White giving the Falcons a strong 5-1 victory and keeping the unbeaten run going. Next week the side are away to Haslemere Masters and hoping for eleven players!
MoM: Gary Mahon and Chris Hutton
