Despite warming up with only four balls the Ladies 4s took the win against Henley 2s. The first goal for Hawks was an early tornado by Kim. The early lead left us confident connecting with the ball and passing round the back nicely. Finally, a short corner was won, which was thrown around the D and narrowly missed the goal. Not long after the defence won back possession after a heavy attack from Henley, Becky Waite, receiving a pass in our 25, ran the length of the pitch, taking a shot at goal and scoring. Our 3rd goal from Karen near the end of the first half,, from a extremely hard angle, was under debate from the umpires - the goal stood!
At half time we were 3-0 up and spoke about taking responsibility for our actions which helped us retain the ball and build opportunities from the back. Despite our efforts we lost the ball to Henley at the half way line from where they ran and scored. Hawks came back stronger and it wasn’t long until we scored again. Katie slipped the ball across the P spot where Caz was beautifully positioned on the keepers back foot and hit the ball in around her. The final goal reflected the entirety of the game as a team effort of passing around the Henley players before the ball reached Karen, where she turned and slapped it in for her second goal, giving Hawks an incredible 5-1 win.
