Ladies' 1s welcomed a strong Cheltenham side to BRN in a bid to maintain their position at the top of the table. Hawks started strongly, playing some great passing hockey and working together as a unit. Cheltenham also came out fighting making some good interceptions to deny Hawks some circle entries. After some good attacks from both teams, we entered the second half with a 0-0 score line.

Hawks were feeling confident in possession and maintained their composure. After some lovely play by Reaney in the opposition’s 23, she found a pass back to Rosie who was able to transfer it to Claire “Caruth-less” sprinting down the right hand side who entered the circle and smashed the ball into the back of the net, leaving the score at 1-0 going into the final quarter.

Both teams continued to play aggressive hockey, with Hawks close to increasing their lead on several occasions but unable to score a second goal which would have all but secured victory. Sadly, Hawks conceded a corner in the dying seconds of the match which the visiting side took full advantage of, leaving the final score at 1-1.

A disappointing result following a dominant performance, but Hawks can carry plenty of positives forward. The Ladies 1s will look to keep building on a strong start to the season next week.
