Ladies' 4s 1 - 2 Sonning Ladies 2s
Last Saturday the Ladies 4s had a great match against Sonning 2s. The game was off to a solid start with the team defending some strong attackers who were putting lots of pressure on our defensive quarter. As a collective, the team looked great at times connecting the ball to each other with improved accuracy and frequency. Purdy made some excellent saves throughout the game, defending many short corners and turnovers that came in the D.
By half time the score was 1-0 after an excellent goal from Katie who had an impressive game in half back despite normally playing upfront or inner. She was supported by Kim and Karen who put lots of great pressure on their defence throughout.
As the second half kicked off Sonning came out strong getting back into the game 1-1 despite lots of great tackles particularly from the full backs. Then came a surprise goal which neither team could quite believe – a ball was hit on the very edge of the D, most were convinced it was outside however, was just over and gave Sonning the edge for the final portion of the match. Unfortunately, the team was unable to come back from this surprise.
Regardless of the final score there was plenty of excellent hockey on show from the whole team. Everyone had a cracking game – well played!
