Ladies 4s win local derby against Oxford 3s

Ladies' 4s 4 - 2 Oxford Ladies 3s
Despite some very questionable weather and bad visibility Hawks pulled through with a win against Oxford 3s. Initially the fog was so bad that you couldn’t see the other side of the pitch, but this didn’t stop Becky Waite’s lovely reverse cross into the D onto the waiting stick of Rebecca Black who calmly spun and scored an early goal! With some excellent saves from Trin we managed to stay one nil up for a while until Oxford flicked the ball into the net…
But this didn’t stop us!! After patiently passing the ball around the back waiting for the right opportunity, Catherine made a lead and received the ball. She then put a lovely pass through to Becky who turned to goal and ran, closely followed by Karen. Becky passed the ball around the defenders to Karen who then slipped it to the post, where Becky smoothly scored another goal!
Oxford then got another a ball into the D and managed to score another goal to bring us to 2 all. However it wasn't long before our third goal which was a cross from Kim into the D where Karen was waiting on the post to slap it in around the keeper.
As the fog cleared, and we got a bit more tired, Oxford had a few breakthroughs and very nearly a free goal, but luckily for us we had the very very fast Alice who jetted down the pitch to make tackles and clear the ball out the D while Trin made some great saves.
The last goal came from a very smooth short corner…..
The ball was slipped right to Caz who hit it at the goal. Unfortunately for Oxford it hit their defender's foot and she went down… The ref didn’t blow the whistle though and the ball was kept in play until Fran reverse slapped the ball into the goal!!!!
The final score was 4-2 and we were very happy about the win!! Player of the match was Romilly.
