Ladies' 5s 2 - 0 Oxford Ladies 4s
After a tough start to the season the 5s were happy after a 2-0 win against Oxford 4s. It was a tough game, hotly contested and with some excellent play from both sides. Hawks had the best of the first half with a goal from Molly being the highlight. Strong drive and pass from Sophie put Molly in front of goal and with a cool head she unfooted the keeper to score. A series of short corners just before half term put the Oxford defence under pressure but unfortunately none were converted and it left the game very open at half time.
Oxford came out for the second half with purpose and a high press. They had a period of strong pressure but the Hawks defence held and there was excellent team work and determination to contest every ball. Some critical saves from Evelyn kept the 5s in the game. Gradually Hawks began to retain more of the ball and looked dangerous on the break. It was on one break that the ball was passed with speed and accuracy through midfield and Yasmin scored the goal after a rebound from the keeper.
Hawks then managed to hold possession more consistently and the remainder of the game was played out to give them their first goals, first win and first clean sheet of the season. Player of the match votes were spread across 8 different players which showed what a good team performance it was. It was Molly however who will be baking next week!
