A hat trick in the first O50s game.

Ladies O50s 3 - 0 Reading Ladies O50s
It was a first time ever for Hawks to field an O50s team on Sunday as they turned out against a Reading side. A warm welcome to Angie Burrell who made her masters debut! It was a friendly game and played in exactly that spirit with an agreement that four quarters would be played to allow old legs to rest every 15 minutes!
Hawks started well with a slick move that led immediately to a short corner. Possession in the quarter eventually led to the first goal from Rebecca Black but as time progressed Reading worked their way back into the match. It was more even in the second quarter but Hawks defence held firm and Rebecca managed to score Hawks and her second just before the half time whistle.
A Facebook plea for players by Reading reaped results for them when our own Deborah Evelyn arrived to help them out at half time. Their defence was strengthened by her tackling and interceptions and despite some tactical reorganisation of players by Hawks it took until the final play of the game for a third goal to be scored and for Rebecca to complete her hat trick.
Cake and tea at the side of the pitch after a very enjoyable game and promises were made for Hawks to travel to Reading for a return match after Christmas.
Thanks to Reading for initiating the fixture and Charlie and Colin for umpiring and Evelyn Hargraves for the excellent photos.
It was a good run around ahead of the start of the O45s campaign next weekend.
