Ladies' 6s 0 - 2 Leighton Buzzard Ladies 2s
Leighton Buzzard 2s vs Oxford Hawks 6s 2-0
New league, new division, closer teams???
Firstly let’s start with a huge positive. On a weekend of fuel shortages and an away fixture all the way over in Bedfordshire we managed to field a team of 14 players. Great team work everyone.
With our first push back we started confidently driving hard into Leighton Buzzards half trying to break through their defence. Leighton Buzzard showed off their skill and speed early with our defence working hard to protect our D. After 15 minutes LB broke through and scored their first goal. Their second coming just before half time, this time from a short corner.
After a motivational team talk at half time we came out strong, passing and moving the ball well. Then a stop on the line by a foot in our D meant a penalty flick for LB. No problem for our Superstar goalie Tehya. A brilliant save and the score remained at 2-0.
An ankle injury for Lizzie stopped play for a few minutes (Get well soon Lizzie) Then we were back on and tried to match the pace and rapid passing skills of LB.
To end on another positive the score for the second half was 0-0. Well played Hawks 6s against a tough opposition.
A very well deserved MOM went to Jess for an outstanding game in defence. Jess kept calm under a lot of pressure from LB playing the ball intelligently out of defence and making so many great tackles.
