A 1-0 defeat wasn't quite the start the L6s were looking for..

25 September 2021, 10:00, Banbury Road North (Near)

Ladies' 6s 0 - 1 Aylesbury Ladies 2s

There was an air of excitement around the pitch to finally be back playing league hockey after a long break!
Aylesbury got the first push back and started strong. Hawks were stuck camping in their defensive D for the majority of the first half. Hawks had occasional breaks up the pitch with some quick and decisive passes. Hawks won a couple of short corners but couldn’t convert them.
We went into half time 0-0 which took a whole team effort and hard work to keep Aylesbury out.
The second half saw Hawks have a lot more of the ball and attacking play although Tehya was still called in to action a lot and had to make at 6 important saves in a row. 10 minutes from time, frustratingly Aylesbury finally managed to get through the defence. Hawks didn’t give up and continued to attack hard.
A short corner awarded to Hawks and final whistle blown, this was our chance to get a point from this point. One of the Aylesbury defence made an incredible save to deny the draw.
Everyone played well and we had some excellent linking play but a special mention has to go to our MOM Teyha - without her the score would have been very different and possibly even slightly embarrassing!!
