Oxford Hawks Ladies 3s went out prove a point this Saturday in their first league game. Having worked hard on structural play and forward attacking play at training this really paid off.
Hawks started strong with lots of interlinking between the backs - with some very strong and confident transfer play. This constructed some much needed space for the inners to run onto the ball and carry for a well supplied ball to the forwards. Karen Meadows picked up the ball and slotted Hawks first goal into the net. This run continued on in the first half as Megan Minton found the back of the net with a ball through from Phoebe Clarke.
The second half started strongly with Hawks retaining most of the possession - Phoenix did have the opportunity to strike and some excellent defensive saves from Emma Page and a save on the line from Chloe Scragg denied Phoneix a goal. Hawks knew they had to finished strongly in the second half to secure the win. Rosie McEwen-Smith Godding found the space to deliver the ball to Phoebe Clarke who then swiftly secured a short corner for Hawks. The corner was passed out to the top and Megan Minton hit a strike which was tapped in brilliantly by Rosie McEwen-Smith Godding. 3-0 was the final score for Hawks Ladies 3s and we had a lucky mascot in Rory! Thanks Lucy Birtles.
Great start for Hawks Ladies 3s!
