Falcons end the mini-series against the Magnificent 7s with a win

08 May 2021, 09:00, Banbury Road North (Near)

Men's 7s 3 - 5 Oxford Hawks Falcons

As we head toward summer the third game was played in the worst weather and maybe it was this that caused the slow start for the Falcons. Or maybe it was tactical acumen on the part of Richard Venables switching players and pressing hard from the start.  Either way Falcons found themselves overrun and 3-0 down by half-time.

Falcons were without Bennett, Doggett, Kaye and Sumser but were buoyed by the return of Heinrich and Dunnill and with the added bonus of new joiner Andy Burroughs linking back up with his old Wycombe team-mate Colin Burrell making his debut. The only confusion was we now have 2 Buzz's to add to 2 Whitey's!!

The team re-grouped at half-time resolved to sit deeper, narrow the forward line and play more expansive hockey. The results were immediate Dawson converted a short corner for the first of his three goals before both Dunleavy and Hutton settled the game.

A fantastic second half by the Falcons after a great start from the Magnificents. It has been great being back on the pitch so a huge thanks to everyone involved in making it happen!
