Ladies O45s 6 - 4 Wycombe Ladies masters
When a group of O45 Eagles 🦅 get together it’s important that there’s a lot of talking both on and off the pitch. A gentle warm up under the sprinklers and the team were rather on the back foot for the first part of the game conceding the first goal after a bit of pressure from Wycombe. A swift counter attack and a goal from Dizzy evened the score line and by half time, thanks to Pips reverse strike and another goal by Dizzy; who has a knack of being in the right place at the right time; we were 3-1 up. But if Linda hadn’t been in such good form in goal the score line could have been different.
At the start of the second half a solo run through the middle of the field and a composed sidestep round the keeper by Kathryn took the score to 4-1 but it was no time to be complacent and before long Wycombe had managed to slot two quick goals away the score was looking much more even at 4-3.
As the game went into the final quarter it was the time for Hawks larger squad to take advantage and a fifth goal was scored at a PC with a move that looked as though it had come straight from the practice ground. Injection from Pip to Jacs who hit to the near post for Pip to put it in first time. With Hawks becoming more dominant the sixth goal was slotted home by Sherene after a good team passing move. Wycombe managed another goal but had not done enough by the end of the game and Hawks left the field happy to be victorious.
So much fun to be out on a pitch with such a great group of players. Thanks to Clive Jones for the excellent photos. Many thanks also to Wycombe for making the journey and to Dave Hughes and Charlie Baggs for keeping us all in order!
