After what has been an eternity the Falcons returned to action against the 7's in what is expected to be the first in a mini-series of games over coming weeks.  In a repeat of the 2019 end of season game that ended in a highly contested draw, expectations from both sides were high.

The 7's with a lower average age hit their stride quicker than the Falcons did with Ollie Graham asking a lot of questions of the old lags! But for some profligate shooting and able defending by Chris Hutton, Jonny Atkins, Steve Jones, Andy Kaye and Richard Wilsdon the 7's could have been 5-0 up within 20 minutes!  As it was they went 1-0 down to Peter Bennett who converted a scramble beyond the helpless Phillip Hargreaves who until that point had thwarted all attempts and several short corners!

The lead didn't last long with the 7's youngsters getting in behind the Falcons defence drawing Wilsdon and slipping for an open goal conversion!

The 7's were then to go ahead, after yet another attack stretched the midfield and defensive unit and another comfortable finish gave the 7's a deserved lead.  Falcons changed formation reverting from a 4-3-3 to a 4-4-2 with a midfield diamond.  Burrell and Dunleavy filled the defensive central midfield berth with Warner, Sumser, Doggett, Mark White, Dawson, Bennett, Dunnill and David White all filling in around them and in attack.  This stabilised the Falcons and they were able to reassert themselves, but Hargreaves was unbeatable in goal and it took a cracking finish from Sumser to level things up at 2-2.

With honours even both sides look forward to the next game in a couple of weeks!
