After a few enforced weeks off hockey, the Ladies 4s were fired up and ready to come back strong against Thame Ladies 1s. Thame started off strong, winning many of the 50/50 balls and holding a lot of possession. Unfortunately for us this resulted in Thame scoring a goal in the first five minutes of the game which wasn't the morale boost we needed and this was shortly followed by another goal from Thame. Despite the rough start we were able to pick ourselves up and sort out the lack of communication at the back. Consequently, we were awarded a short corner where Rebecca took an impressive strike at goal which deflected off Vicky's stick straight into the back of the net! It didn't stop here for Hawks, who were determined to score another. We held possession with Freya and Abby working the ball very well at the back. With some brilliant skills from Clare and Rosie, Hawks were able to get the ball down towards the attacking end with Clare scoring a goal in open play just before the half-time whistle.
Having come back from 2-0 down in the first half we were determined to go back out and continue scoring goals. Although the entire team worked hard Thame came back stronger and this was reflected in 2 goals being scored in quick succession. Hawks didn't give up and were still fighting with Lucy and Ffion making lots of good leads which resulted in us gaining another short corner. Sadly, we weren't able to score off this one and shortly after Thame took another goal making the score 5-2 when the final whistle blew. Congratulations to Lucy for getting player of the match.
