1-1 at half time with a goal from player of the match Phil Dunnill levelled when one of our defenders who shall remain nameless (but he’s the shortest 62 year old in the squad!) gifted Guildford a pass of a ball that was otherwise drifting off target and off the back of the pitch. Doh!!
Late in the half Guildford were also reduced to ten men following an off ball incident with another nameless (curly haired pub managing) Falcons defender, but Falcons were unable to capitalise.
In a game where Buzz hit the post, Ferret saw a lob saved by an outstretched hand, two shots were cleared off the goal line by defenders it was proving a frustrating game for Falcons and at times this frustration led to the team failing to play their usual expansive game and trying to force too many attacks.
Second half saw Falcons continue to dominate possession and continue to waste short corners but a well worked move saw Pete Bennett score what would prove to be the winning goal and maintain Falcons 100% start to the season ensuring the magnificents aren’t the only men’s team with such a record (could you imagine how smug they would be!! Seriously well done boys!)
We look forward to returning to the pitch once the enforce break is over! Stay safe everyone!!
