Men's 5s 0 - 2 Leighton Buzzard Men's 1s

On Saturday Hawks 5s travelled to Leighton Buzzard, home of 1980s band Kajagoogoo (my dad tells me) and former club of our skipper Will, so a lot to play for. Playing another first team in our league is always tough and after a good draw last week against Windsor 1s, we started the game with confidence. However, to be fair the Buzzards were on top for most of the game and there was plenty of rearguard action and we were reduced to playing on the break. We were yet again indebted to Jack Sobey and he ended up Man of the Match for about the fourth time this season. Leighton Buzzard opened the scoring in the first half with a deflected shot and in the second half they created a lot of short corners which Jack was equal to. On the break, Bastiaan hit the post twice with reverse hit shots and there was some good interplay between Charlie and Chris Batten, but unfortunately Buzzard scored a second and ultimately took the three points. Richard got himself a green card, but Jack was a deserved MoM. A really tough game, but a lot of positives to take out of it and we can go into another tough game next week against West Hampstead 3s with belief.
