Ladies 2s hold on for victory at Harrow

10 October 2020, 14:00, John Lyon School

Ladies' 2s 3 - 2 Harrow Ladies' 1s

The Ladies 2s bounced back this week with a 3-2 win away at Harrow. In a strong first half Hawks dominated possession. Lovely interplay through the lines and great movement up front had the Harrow defence under constant pressure and they got their reward through a clinical short corner with a back post deflection from Kathryn. More of the same followed and another short corner brought another goal. This time a drag flick from Rosie was saved by the keeper but the rebound was pounced on by Helen to put away the second. The chances kept coming with only the post and some last ditch defending keeping the score to 2 but the last play of the half saw yet another short corner converted with a straight strike from the top from Suzi. The second half proved a different story, the Harrow team came out determined and immediately put the Hawks team under pressure forcing a short corner in the first 5 minutes and despite an instinctive save from Liv, they scrambled the ball home. Buoyed by the goal they pressed with renewed energy, taking an early free hit they got a slightly fortunate deflection into the D and a clinical finish low to the left saw them put away a second. With Harrow sensing an opportunity the final quarter proved a scrappy and slightly niggly affair, but Hawks dug deep and kept their composure to see out the win for a well deserved 3 points.
