After a sharp loss the previous week, the ladies 3s were back and fighting ready for another league match. A previous 2-1 kicked off the pre-season friendlies against the Wallingford Side, of course what made this better was the [roaring] crowd in the pouring rain and prime position on the show pitch.

The first half started with some strong attack from Wallingford however lots of defensive work meant they were denied goals on several occasions. Quick break always meant we also had opportunity to pull ahead and there was good link up play as well as leads into space moving up the pitch.

Sadly Wallingford nabbed a goal 20 minutes in and this left us fighting further, stepping to stop their link up play.

The second half we came out strong and overturned, having the majority of possession for the entirety of the half. We attacked well up the lines and the links between the defence, midfield and attack improved more and more. A few short corners later we just couldn’t quite nab the chance to put that ball in the goal. Determination saw us not giving up until the very end and off the pitch watched a team that were impressed with the fight and the work rate of each individual player as well as our fight as a team. Sadly a 1-0 loss however a completely dominated second half just without a converted opportunity. Plenty of positives to work on and overall a positive team!
MOM votes for Linda, Fran, Lucy B as well Becca, Emily & Priya but the winner was Victoria.

Ready for another week and another opportunity to work hard as a team!

Thanks to Evelyn Hargraves for the excellent photos.
