The trip to Henley wasn’t without it’s obstacles on a wet and blustery Saturday morning. Having maneuvered through some deep water on the roads and eventually making their way to the illustrious Tesco car park, the Hawks 6s wanted to start showing off the work they’d been doing during Wednesday training. After a good opening 10 mins of play, chances weren’t taken with the ball being played time and time again across the D by Lotty and Linda, but unfortunately no one was there to slot it home on the back post.
Like the watershed the girls faced on the way there, Henley then scored just before half-time to go into the break 1-0 up.
Despite the rain no longer falling, the floodgates opened and Henley came out to score 3 goals in the first 20 mins of the 2nd half. It could have been many more if it weren’t for the brilliant player of the match, Teyha, in goal.
Some good Hawks connections then started to happen in the second half with huge efforts made by Romilly and Katie but again, Henley were the ones that pounced on their opportunities gifted to them from some sloppy mistakes and scored twice more. The last 10 mins finally saw Hawks pulling together some better passes which eventually resulted in a perfectly poised finish from Linda Phillips. A wet and miserable Saturday ended in a 1-5 defeat.
