Ladies 2s find it tough against OGs
03 October 2020, 14:30, St George's College
Ladies' 2s 0 - 4 Old Georgians Ladies 1
After a long drive through the rain, Oxford Hawks 2s arrived in sunnier Weybridge to start their second league game.
The whistle blew and both teams came out strong, with high amounts of pressure resulting in lots of changes in possession. As the half continued OGs made some great counter-attacks but some great saves from Liv and defensive strength held them off until an unfortunate deflection off of a Hawks' stick put us 1-0 down. As the first half drew to a close, despite a very close chance from Kathryn Poulter in the dying seconds, it was clear that Hawks needed to step up their game.
With the start of the second half came a higher intensity and better attitude from Hawks, with good pressure upfront meaning OGs struggled to maintain possession. However the pressure was soon back on for Hawks as some questionable decisions leading to us playing a man down for 2 minutes, and OGs soon found the back of the net through some more aggressive team goals ending the scoring at 4-0.
As the game drew to a close, Hawks began making more chances with Kim running rings around the OGs defenders but it was not meant to be.
The final whistle blew and despite it being a disappointing score, Hawks have lots to take away and will come back stronger for next week!
