L5s match Oxford University

26 September 2020, 10:30, Banbury Road North (Top)

Ladies' 5s 1 - 1 Oxford University Ladies 3s

A crisp Saturday morning set the scene for Saturday's match against the Oxford University 3s, with the team talk reminding us that the University usually provide a tough match and lots of speed. Nonetheless, Hawks 5s went out fighting, and the first 25 minutes of the game really proved they were on top of their game! A bout of defensive play from the Hawks, followed by an awesome attacking break after a pick up from Karen around the 30 minute mark sent the ball right towards the Sherene, who effortlessly picked it up and, 1 v's 1 with the keeper... who had no chance! Half time, Hawks 1-0!

As anticipated, Uni didn't take this lightly and with a strong offensive, earnt themselves a flick following a Hawks foot on the line. We huddled up, expecting the equaliser..... but keeper Evelyn wasn't having that! The flick was saved and Hawks still 1-0 up! Some awesome play from the whole team, but the persistent University side eventually slotted one in, finishing the match with a 1-1 draw. A really great game, and a great start to the league!"
