The ladies 2nd XI hosted Banbury 1s on Thursday evening for their penultimate pre-season game.
The 2s started well and scored early on through a straight strike from a short corner, Beth Farrant striking. However it didn't take long for Banbury to bring the scores back level again.
This proved to be a kick start for the 2s as the goals flowed from this point, without reply. Victoria drove with great pace towards the D, offloading to Beth who deflected towards goal for Kim to tuck it away at the left post. It wasn't long until Kim got her second of the game, this time with Alice playing the ball from the left hand side of the D for Kim to deflect. Score now 3-1.
Goal number 4 for Hawks came from a sustained period of pressure on the Banbury defence. In a 3rd phase attack Hawks were able to find Sandra at the back post who tucked the ball away at the back post. The 5th goal came from the Hawks left half driving to the Banbury baseline and cutting the ball back to Alice Potter in the D who finished well.
Hawks' final goal came from good work in the press to put enough pressure on the Banbury back line to force an error and gain possession. Hawks supported the counter attack well with Victoria carrying the ball hard to the Banbury D and laying the ball off to Sandra. The ball somehow found its way to Kathryn who finished on the volley.
The 2s face Buckingham next before starting their season in South Div.2 next week.
