Oxford Hawks travelled down the A40 to face Gloucester in a pre-season friendly, a side in the league above Hawks. Gloucester started strongly and enjoyed the lions share of possession in the first quarter, and took the lead with a well struck reverse strike from the top of the area. In the second quarter Hawks stepped up a few gears and put huge pressure on the Gloucester players, who struggled to get the ball out of the back. Hawks created a number of good chances but found the opposition keeper on top form. Hawks then levelled from a penalty corner as Catherine Reaney tipped in Rachel Moore’s well struck shot.
In the second half Hawks continued to play some great hockey, and scored again from a corner as Reaney skilfully volleyed past the keeper. Millie Lane in the Hawks goal had to be on top form to keep out a number of good Gloucester efforts. However a few minutes from the end of the game Gloucester levelled from another corner to make the score 2-2.
