A great 6-1 win for Ladies 3s against Maidenhead Ladies 2

14 March 2020, 11:30, Banbury Road North (Top)

Ladies' 3s 6 - 1 Maidenhead Ladies 2s

Whilst Maidenhead were looking to come out strong to save them from relegation, Hawks needed to match this attitude, despite a short warm up and team talk. This was achieved with a strong start to the match by Hawks pulling ahead early and scoring the first goal within 5 minutes. The ladies then maintained the lead for a few minutes where Maidenhead managed to pull it back on a quick break. Maidenhead kept that pressure up during the first half, leading to some great defending by Hawks, in particular a great goal line save by Chloe after a Maidenhead quick break. However, this defending lead through to gaining of momentum by Hawks due to their great team play and support of each other, to score 2 more goals to finish half time at 3-1.

There were lots of attacking opportunities during the second half which Hawks made the most by scoring 3 more goals, including a great reverse stick shot by Sandra.

Overall, this game included great team play and support for each other, which good pressure against Maidenhead’s defence and utilisation of the space to work through the middle, pass it out wide, and then up the line to enable more opportunities and shots on goal. This gave Hawks lots of chances through some great 2 v 1s and runs down the line.

Thanks to Henry for managing this game, and one shout out must go to Lucy who played her first half as a forward making some great runs, but unfortunately switched back to play as a defender in the 2nd half.

The team played one of their best games and a lot of hard work and dedication on the pitch from every player lead to an incredible and much deserved 6-1 win.
