Ladies 4s victorious in the calm before the storm

15 February 2020, 10:30, Banbury Road North (Near)

Ladies' 4s 3 - 2 Wallingford Ladies 2s

The Ladies 4s were well prepared going into Saturday's game, Captain Becky gave a good diagrammatic pre-match chat and with 16 players we were ready for a good run around!
We started strong, with the first goal being a good team effort starting from the back then worked up the wing finding Mimi who beautifully sneaked in a goal from a tricky angle. We had great energy even with the wind and the rain!! We were given clear objectives from Captain Becky for the first half; 2 goals and 5 short corners. We smashed it!! With our second goal coming from a slick ping pong short corner and a strong finish from Kim. Superb connections up front from our forwards Kim, Rebecca, Mimi, Emily and Lucy who particularly had perfect positioning. And in the words of Rebecca Black, we were just like a mouse's nose with cracking attacks through the whiskers!!
We kept the momentum going into the second half which started with a couple of attacking short corners in the first 5 minutes. On the second short an attempted ping pong was defended well but with quick reactions from the injector, Nicky snuck in a goal from the rebound. We had good transfers around the back with strong tackles from Becky and Annabel and even forward Rebecca surprised herself pulling off a solid block tackle!! Hawks put in a great team performance but the opposition were sneaky and put 2 goals past us in the second half making the last 10 mins a feisty battle!! Overall a great and enjoyable game despite the threat of storm Dennis!
Player of the match went to Lucy.
