U14 Girls' A team lose to Amersham & Chalfont

26 January 2020

U14 Girls A 2 - 5 Amersham & Chalfont U14 Girls

It was a wet and windy day when the U14s went out to Amersham and Chalfont to play. Luck was on our side and Charlotte our captain won the toss. The first 10 minutes was quite uneventful and we had the ball mostly in our defensive half. Trin was doing some great goal keeping and saved many amazing shots despite them being a great team. However we suddenly had a break through. Emily passed it to molly and from there she managed to dribble down the pitch, skill the goalie and it became 1-0 to us. A few minutes later we scored another goal where Romilly passed it to Rosie, it was then crossed into Molly who slapped it in smoothly. It was all looking good until the last five mins where A&C caught us off guard and scored 3 goals. The whistle was a nice relief to hawks as we needed some time to clear our heads and get them back in gear again. Score: 2-3

The whistle went again to start the second half with their push back giving them a slight advantage at the beginning. Jess and Katie kept a tight defensive line despite being outnumbered at one point A&C just managed to slip a ball around Trin - it was a great goal though. We fought back and Charlotte and Emily were working great together, getting around a lot of defenders. We passed the ball around nicely but we couldn’t pull it off as they had a very good press and weren’t letting anything through. The weather was not favouring us either as it poured down on us.  We had fight hardbm but they just wanted it more and won the game 2-5 to them. The player of the match was given to Charlotte who deserved it as she took on and skilled a lot of players. After messing around in the changing rooms a while, we were pleased to get back inside the clubhouse and dry out.
