With the frost having cleared by the mid afternoon push back in Guildford, Falcons were looking to bounce back from a lethargic performance the previous week.
The team was strengthened by a couple of returning players in Buzz and Hutts and the game started with good possession for the Falcons, however goals were hard to come by despite good circle penetration.
Several attacks and short corners were capably defended by an excellent and in-form Guildford goalie and his defence. But the Falcons weren't to be deterred and after 20 minutes yet another short corner was despatched by Russ Warner.
Falcons pushed to create some daylight between the sides, but that was it, despite a few more chances and some sterling defending by Wilsdon and his defence the half-time score remained a tight 1-0 lead.
The second half started in much the same way as the first and as time moved on, nerves began to show as the Falcons feared an equaliser against a very resilient Guildford defence, but mid-way through the half the skipper scored 2 quick goals - the first a flick over a goalie who was frequently going quickly to ground and the second a superb strike inside the near post following a saved initial strike.
The third goal did the trick and it took the wind from Guildfords sails, Falcons were able to relax retain possession of the ball and see out the game. They now look forward to a top of the table clash with Woking next week 11:30 at BRN.
Thanks to Guildford for their hospitality and umpires and we look forward to seeing them next season!!
