No goals in Ladies' 5's match but plenty of entertaining hockey

Ladies' 5s 0 - 0 Maidenhead Ladies 3s
The ladies 5s set out in a positive frame of mind after a win before Christmas. They gave Maidenhead a good and very close game. Maidenhead dominated in the first quarter but were held and by the end of the half Hawks had worked their way back into compete on an equal footing. Maidenhead may have felt unlucky when the ball hit the post from a short corner strike but it was 0-0 and all to play for in the second half.
Hawks came out strongly and played some good team hockey with midfield combining well with defence and attack. As the game went on Hawks became more in charge and the pressure of the last 10 minutes resulted in a penalty flick being awarded. It was saved by the diving Maidenhead keeper who had played well throughout the match. So a goalless draw and one valuable point for Hawks.
Player of the match points were spread across the team with Abi, Sophie, Alice and Caroline all getting votes but Zoe was the POM.
Many thanks to Evelyn Hargraves for the excellent photos.
