Falcons dust off the Christmas cob-webs in impressive fashion

Falcons 15 - 0 Havant Cavaliers
The New Year began with Falcons away to Havant on the South coast.
The Falcons found themselves top of the league with the surprise defeat of Woking by Windsor just before the Christmas break and the team were keen to lay down a marker that they intended staying there.
Falcons dominated play from the start taking possession at the start of the game and not giving Havant the ball until they were retrieving it from the back of their own net when Russ Warner netted the Falcons first short corner.
Goals continued to flow with considerable regularity and all from open play with Falcons playing some great hockey. The team adopted the same style of play that had proved successful in the first half of the season, using the width and playing some great one-twos and they found themselves 8-0 up by half-time.
Nige Doggett netted 4 including a great goal scored at head high following a deflection in front of goal.
David White was showing good skills on the right wing and netted 2 scorchers.
Chris Hutton and Steve Griffiths both netted good goals.
Colin Burrell and Andy Sumser both scored hat-tricks whilst Dave Blomley, Steve Jones, Dick Heinrich at the back alongside goalie Richard Wilsdon were largely untroubled and dealt capably with the 5 minutes of dominance Havant enjoyed early in the second half.

Falcons now face a home-tie against Winchester next week building up to the top of the table clash with Woking on 25th Jan.
