L6s come back from behind twice to draw 2-2 away against Henley 3

07 December 2019, 16:30, Henley HC

Ladies' 6s 2 - 2 Henley Ladies 3s

‘Twas the last league game before Christmas and.....

our arrival in Henley was slightly staggered with the twins getting to know a certain roundabout rather too well but we started on time against a very youthful team.   They looked good from the start and in spite of solid defence from Solveig and Phil and excellent clearances from Jan a fast break meant that we went 1-0 down and stayed like that for most of the first half. Stern words from Phil at half time were what we needed and early in the second half top goal scorer Lotty managed to slot a satisfying goal in from a short corner and at 1-1 it was all to play for.

Our midfield players worked hard with strong drives from Charlotte and we put pressure on as much as possible to close down their passes. However they scored again and we were again a goal down. Did we let our heads drop? Absolutely not!! We had more play in our D in the second half and some great attempts on goal from Molly, Alessia and Linda but in the end it was Lotty again who put the equaliser in from the characteristic “ping-pong” short corner drill with Linda. We were happy with a draw after a hard fought game and a well deserved MOM went to Charlotte with Bella a very close second. Then it was time to party and the last on the dance floor? The Ladies 6s of course...
