Men's 5s 2 - 0 West Hampstead Men's 4s
With little said about the week before, the Hawks 5s set the tempo in their warm up this week, setting the intensity for the game early doors.
The 12 man side set about the West Hampstead team with quick, short passing, pulling their defence apart on multiple occasions. The scoring was opened by Ed Baldock, after getting on the end of a pass at the top of the D, weaving between a few defenders before slotting it into the corner from the P spot, 1-0 Hawks.
The Second half started similarly, before fatigue started to hit both teams and the pitch began to open up. Ed Watson took a nasty deflected ball to the eye, which saw him take a breather, whilst the Hawks tried to regather themselves and build some more composure. Unfortunately, it was then Pablo's turn on the injury front with some hamstring difficulty. Just as it seemed as though the 5s would have to see out the game with 10 men, Ed W returned to the field to help the side through.
In the closing 5 minutes, it was an end to end game, with both teams spreading the play. Then, out of nowhere, a pass to the top of the D found Boots free, where a first touch shot thudded into the backboard. 2-0 Hawks.
A brilliant and composed game from the 5s to regather after a rocky last week. Next week is a top of the league away fixture at Leighton Buzzard.
