The Eagles beat Wycombe Masters 6-2. Six goals, six scorers!

Eagles 6 - 2 Wycombe Ladies masters
Another successful flight for the Eagles in their first home game of the season. As the sun dropped below the horizon on a cold but clear late Sunday afternoon the mature legs of the Eagles took to the pitch. It was good to welcome Sandra as another new Eagle.
Playing into the sun the team got off to a good start and were a goal up in the second minute when Sherene was on the end of a good passing move. Zoe doubled the score after another couple of minutes and within 7 minutes, and before some of the team had even touched the ball, Sue placed the ball perfectly inside the post from a short corner to make it 3-0.
Wycombe came back strongly and reminded us how dangerous they can be on the attack with Linda being called on in goal to make some outstanding saves. And it was Wycombe who scored next to make it 3-1. Undaunted the Eagles kept attacking and with further goals from Bella and Sandra it was 5-1 at the turn.
Despite continuing to pressurise in the second half Wycombe had reorganised their defence and the goals were not as easy to score....only one well timed touch by Pip that deflected a hard hit into the circle last the goalkeeper. And it was a hard working and seemingly tireless Wycombe side who won a series of short corners and scored the last goal of the game to make the final score 6-2.
A most enjoyable game with a range of players aged 35 to 63 from 5 teams of Hawks and with some Oxford and Sunday only players too. For a great goal, tireless running, passing and anticipation up front the Player of the Match was Bella Dawes.
Team: Linda, Bernie U, Susan, Phil, Caroline, Jacs, Sue, Claire H, Catherine, Claire R, Sandra, Becky, Zoe, Pip, Bella (POM!!), Sherene.
