Oxford Hawks travelled west to face bottom side University of Bristol in their National League Conference West game. Hawks flew out of the blocks, opening the scoring after only 2 minutes with a well worked corner routine finished by Catherine Reaney, on her return from a broken finger. Bristol reacted well and levelled shortly after when a bobbling cross was well finished first time by the Bristol centre forward. However, Hawks responded brilliantly with good work down the right from Gemma Taylor which ended in a shot from Reaney which was saved. Becca Edwards was on hand to smash home the rebound. Player of the Match Caro Harris extended the away sides’ lead as she finished well from another penalty corner.
In the second half Hawks dominated possession and Bristol had limited opportunities to threaten Millie Lane’s goal. Hawks made it four with a perfectly executed corner routine finished off by Claire Werlinger, and Reaney added another with good skills along the baseline, scoring from a tight angle. Hawks now build towards their final match of the year next weekend away at Bath Buccaneers.
