Progress for Ladies 2s as they earn a goal and a point

Ladies' 2s 1 - 1 Amersham & Chalfont Ladies 1s
Ladies 2's had been struggling a little for goals recently, so were delighted to get a goal early on in their home game against Amersham & Chalfont.
Once all uncertainty about the frosty pitch was dispelled - Hawks set to work with a positive, high tempo warm up and started the game very strongly. They created a couple of early chances, the second resulting in their goal. Lilli boldly struck the ball on her reverse from the edge of the D ending in the shot being deflected in by a defender. An early goal was just what the girls needed and they continued to apply a lot of pressure to the A&C defence, which stood pretty strong and kept the number of clear goalscoring opportunities for Hawks, to a minimum.
So, Hawks went in to half time a little disappointed that they were not more than 1-0 up and knew that A&C would come out stronger for the second half - which they did.
If Hawks had the best of the first half, A&C definitely had the better of the second and were rewarded for their pressure with a goal from a short corner 15 minutes into the second half. This seemed to wake Hawks up and they started to build better passages of play, keeping possession with more purpose but still unable to turn the pressure that they had into goal scoring opportunities.
Final score 1-1.
Progress made, but still plenty of potential to be realised....Onwards
