Rainy away trip for the Ladies 3s

26 October 2019, 15:00, Marlow

Ladies' 3s 0 - 2 Marlow Ladies 2s

Our final match before half-term was away at Marlow, on a wet and miserable Saturday. After a good warm up everyone was ready to go and get a win. Marlow got off to a quick start, scoring a few minutes after the whistle. Despite their early goal, we did not let this knock our confidence and continued to look for an equaliser. We kept pushing and started to look promising in the final quarter. Unfortunately, we couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net. Towards the end of the first half Marlow managed to score again, taking the score to 2-0 at half time.

After our half time, we started strong with higher intensity and more aggression, looking to score some goals. The intensity and aggression  proved effective, as opportunities in the attacking D began to arise. The improvement in the final quarter was evident as we had 4 short corners in the second half, opposed to 0 in the first half! We were unlucky not to score from them, as we had some fantastic strikes routines that threatened Marlow’s defence. Whilst the match ended 2-0 to Marlow, the result did not reflect our performance, as we played some really nice fluid hockey, with really strong passages of play. It was a great performance from the whole team as we didn’t give up and continued to put in loads of effort throughout the match. Special mention to Kasey, who was exceptional in defence earning a well deserved POM. DOD went to Clare P for her aerial which ended up going over the fence and hitting Clare W’s car!
