L6s follow England rugby’s example with a quick opening score
26 October 2019, 10:30, Banbury Road North (Top)
Ladies' 6s 6 - 0 Abingdon Ladies 2s
The Ladies 6s were in high spirits, knowing the England rugby score was going our way. One request from the Captain was to score faster than the England team... 1 minute 38 seconds.
We started quickly, gaining a short corner and strong straight strike from Lotty saw Hawks on the score board. Calls from the sideline saying it was scored at just 1 minute 24 seconds. Half way through the first half another short corner but with the same result, 2-0 and both goals to Lotty.
More of the same followed in the second half, Lotty was determined to pocket a hat-trick, entered the D again and took a shot off the back foot and again found the bottom left hand corner. The inners worked tirelessly to change the angle of the ball to try and help the forwards. Another short corner... but this time we had to think of something different. Injected to Linda at the top of the D and passed back to Buffy who slipped the ball past the keeper 5-0. There was still time for another goal and with the trade mark 3 passes down the pitch out from defence, Linda netted herself a goal.
Thanks to Helen and Lucy for umpiring the game ahead of then playing for the 2s later.
