Eagles in a well deserved victory and they lead the league.

Eagles 2 - 0 Chichester Ladies Masters

Goals from Bella Dawes and Phil Williams in a well deserved victory

The Eagles set off on a road trip on Sunday to play their first league game of the season. Top of the league by default as the game started the aim was to stay there. It looked as though that may be a tall order as 9 of the 13 players would have described themselves as defenders.....

But there is versaltility in the squad and Bella and Phil were fine examples! Playing out of position but with a smile and enthusiasm Bella took her chance with style to put us in the lead, much to the pleasure of the Eagles supporters, Later, when Sherene had hit the post it was Phil who reacted the quickest and impressively slotted the ball into the net reverse stick.

It was a great all round performance with Linda making some  crucial saves in the first half to keep us in the game, and a stand out second half by Becky Brodie in the inner position. It was Catherine who got the POM award for holding that middle so consistently and distributing so well.

A huge thanks to everyone for travelling and playing so willingly in unusual positions. It was definitely worth  it to be part of such  a fun team who worked together so well and played in a a great spirit. And we are still top of the league!!
