The M1’s entertained Team Bath on Sunday in their first home league fixture of the season. The game was a very tight encounter throughout with defences dominating and goal scoring opportunities few and far between at either end. Hawks generally achieved parity in terms of possession and territory, but they never did enough in the final third of the pitch to trouble the visiting goalkeeper and it was Bath that took the points when, with just two minutes left on the clock, Hawks failed to capitalise on a circle penetration of their own which resulted in a swift four pass counter attack leaving the Bath captain Ben Edge with a one on one on Chris Price in the Hawks goal. Edge converted to give Hawks no time to respond and to ponder on yet another game where they generally held their own, but could not find a way to unlock the opposition defence. A long away trip to Canterbury awaits next Saturday.
