Some fine finishing saw L6s win 2-0 at home against Sonning 4s
12 October 2019, 13:30, Banbury Road North (Near)
Ladies' 6s 2 - 0 Sonning Ladies 4s
Following an end to end first half including a couple of attacking short corners the game remained scoreless.
Both teams came out hard for the second half, and then Hawks scored from a quick break off a short corner to the opposition. Purdy saved the short corner straight strike and cleared it to Buffy who passed to Alessia (on her birthday), who passed it down the line to Linda who drew in the defender and squared it to Lotty. She then beat the keeper to take Hawks ahead.
Sonning continued to press forward, rewarded with more short corners but some great saves from Purdy, clearances out by Freya and Jan ‘ keeping her ‘head’ kept the ball from crossing Hawks defensive line!
Then a while later Yas took a free hit down the right to Lotty who beat a player and hit it into the D, where Linda hit it first time and squeezed it through the keepers legs to a final score of 2-0.
Man of the match was joint between Freya and Lotty.
Thanks to Zoe for honouring her POM cake baking duty - it was much enjoyed by all - and to Helen and Rachel for blowing their whistles today and to Evelyn Hargraves for the excellent photos.
