Our third league match of the season was Amersham and Chalfont. We started the first half a bit slow. We were giving the ball away fairly easily at first and were struggling to get the ball in the attacking D. However, our defence stayed strong and stopped the opposition from getting any chances. Towards the end of the half a few opportunities arose and we were building up pressure on their defence. We were unfortunate not to get awarded a goal as we scored seconds after the whistle blew for a short corner. At half time the score was 0-0.
After our chat at half time we started the second half at a much quicker pace than we started the match. Our passing was sharper and we were getting more penetrations into our attacking D. We were winning many short corners and putting their defence under pressure as we dominated the second half. However, we could have been more aggressive on some occasions when we were attacking in the D. In the last few minutes of the match Amersham and Chalfont made a break into our half and won a controversial short corner. Unfortunately they scored, putting us 1-0 down. This was very frustrating as we had dominated the second half. Despite this everyone continued to work hard and put in a great effort going up and down the pitch.
In spite of quite an annoying end we were pleased with how we played in the second half and the effort everyone was putting in. So if we start our matches with the intensity with which we finished this match, we are bound to see positive results in the future. Special mention to Kasey who was amazing in defence and won POM.
