The local derby ends with a well earned point for the Ladies 4s

05 October 2019, 11:30, Oxford Brookes

Ladies' 4s 1 - 1 Oxford Ladies 3s

This weekend the Ladies 4s faced a strong Oxford 3s side. Both sides started off with strong intensity- however in the first 10 minutes Oxford did spend a lot of time breaking into our D. Despite this we made some strong and dangerous counterattacks.
The match remained even in the first half with our 'regain' much more effective than our 'retain' as we fought from letting Oxford get a shot off in our D. Oxford started making some breaks towards the end of the half, with a very high player however some amazing clearances were made by Linda, Bethan, Becky and Emily. The half ended nil all.
Both sides started the second half well however once again in the first minutes Oxford applied lots of pressure- intense encouragement from the sidelines spurred Hawks on and we did have some great movement down the wings from the inners and forwards. Despite this Oxford kept the pressure high and many of their shots on the goal went just wide. Unfortunately on a break Oxford caught Hawks and had a large overload meaning they just managed to get a goal past Linda, although Emily very nearly saved it.
Despite this Hawks kept on pushing hard and did not give up- after a couple of attempts on goal we managed to win a short corner. With clinical precision it was converted into an excellent goal by Rebecca!
The final score was a well deserved 1-1 for Hawks and we went away feeling very positive.
There were lots of nominations for player of the match but the award went to Lara.
