Ladies 1s lose narrowly in first league game
28 September 2019, 12:00, Banbury Road North (Near)
Ladies' 1s 0 - 1 Clifton Robinsons Ladies 2s
Clifton 2s were the visitors to BRN in the first match in the National League Conference West, and were immediately under pressure as Hawks pushed forwards and won a couple of short corners early on. However they were unable to convert, and after the first quarter Clifton settled more into the game, and the home side were reliant on Millie Lane making some fine saves in goal on her Ladies 1s league debut. Hawks were very unlucky to lose Catherine Reaney in the second quarter with a nasty broken finger which will need surgery to fix - we wish you a speed recovery Reaney! Just after this Clifton scored what turned out to be the only goal of the game, a rather unfortunate goal which squeezed in at the near post from a narrow angle.
In the second half Hawks pressed hard again and continue to generate chances, but the Clifton keeper was on fine form and kept out everything we threw at her. Hawks pressed strongly in the final quarter but it was not to be. Hawks face Bath Buccs on Saturday, home at 12noon.
