The match started with an organised, threatening Reading team scoring in the first minute from open play 1-0. The first half continued with a lot of pressure on Hawks’ defence and only a few chances for Hawks to score. Reading had a goal disallowed, several short corners and several chances including a missed open goal. Linda made many saves keeping the half time score to 1-0.
The second half started well and the team seemed to click together with more connected passes. Unfortunately Reading continued pressurising and scored a second goal from open play. However, within 2 minutes Hawks struck back with Kim scoring from open play 2-1. There followed a number of Reading short corners which Hawks defended brilliantly. At the other end of the pitch Hawks were awarded a short corner and following a feed in from Rebecca - Polly scored – fantastic what a fightback! 2-2
Very nerve wracking final five minutes with a couple more short corners to defend and a chance to take the win which just went wide. Final score 2-2 – a good start to the season with points shared and lots of positives from the second half.
Several nominations for the player of the match with the award going to Evie.
