A Story of Two Halves for Ladies 2's First League Match

21 September 2019, 12:30, Banbury Road North (Near)

Ladies' 2s 1 - 1 Trojans Ladies 2s

It was our first league game.  The good weather put us all in a good mood. Seconds into the game and Trojans were already eager to press us. We however responded well and Millie made a good save to set us off. Hawks had a lot of possession which they were successful in winning a number of short corners but were unable to convert. The girls continued to work hard and put a lot of pressure on the Trojans defence, but again, were unable to convert, until the final moments of the first half with a wonderful short corner goal scored by Helen. Following the goal Helen performed a great celebration dance where she twirled around on her stick. At half time we had wise words from both Emily and Helen.

We went into the second half eager to score even more goals. They however had other ideas and started pressing a lot harder. The intensity picked up but hawks responded very well. Mary and Rosie both made some amazing tackles keeping us on the attacking side. We were faced by a row of short corners which we faced off, Laura made an awesome save in the line. Unfortunately they then scored in one of the short corners, a straight strike in the air but we didn’t let it get to us. We fought them off until the end of the game. Our supporters were fabulous, thank you for all your epic cheering. Well done to our MOM Rachel! We are now excited to play Eastbourne next week.
