First step up for the L6s in friendly game against Kidlington

14 September 2019, 10:00, Banbury Road North (Top)

Ladies' 6s 2 - 2 Kidlington Ladies 1s

This Saturday was the first match against a team in the Ladies 6s new league - although just a friendly. Lots of new and young faces turned up ready and the sun was shining!
Hawks started the match well but Kidlington were dangerous on the break. Play was bouncing quickly between both teams but neither team were able to capitalise.
Hawks went 0-1 down from a well worked attack by Kidlington. Hawks attacked hard, with the ball being played quickly between the lines. Lizzie found herself on the edge of the D, and with a reverse shot, the Kidlington keeper was shocked to hear the ball hit the back of the goal.
After a half time talk, Kidlington came quickly out of the blocks and scored early again, catching Hawks off guard. Hawks kept their heads held high and after strong attacking play won a short corner. The short corner was converted by Buffy from the P spot.
The match finished with both teams attacking hard, but no further goals scored. Hawks were saved on several occasions by MOM Kayleigh who had an absolute stormer in goal.
First league match next week in a new division for the 6’s, fingers crossed for a good season ahead!

Thanks to Bella for taking charge this week and to Jacs for umpiring.
